What does burnout have in common with Bird Phoenix?
The Phoenix comes from an ancient Greek legend. The phoenix is a magical bird that lives for many hundreds of years, and when it feels that its time has come, it builds a large nest that it sets on fire. The Phoenix dies in a sea of flames, burning up completely until there is only ashes left. Then it rises from the ashes in a new and better version!
This is a great metaphor for burnout!
Do not be offended now, and I’m actually quite serious when I say that this awful thing that is about to happen to you, or has already happened to you is actually the greatest opportunity you have had to create big and positive changes in your life. You just can not help but learn something from being burned out. And you will not be the same afterwards.
No matter how awful it feels when you go through it. When everything is dark, heavy and feels completely impossible. So remember that you are a Bird Phoenix.
You can burn, but you will also rise from the ashes.
Although a burnout can teach you important things about yourself, it is best to take action before you are completely burnt out.
The signs that your body and your brain are trying to show you can teach you exactly the same lesson if you are just willing to listen. And stop. And be curious.
